Undertaking a Director’s Attachment to the legendary Kim Mordaunt (Boy Swallows Universe, The Rocket, Wakefield) was an experience like no other. Shooting a series about sweltering Australian bushfires in the middle of winter, presented the kind of logistical challenges that were tackled head on, and allowed for a very hands on director’s attachment experience.

Across the attachment, Kim essentially leaned on me as an assistant, but one with immense trust placed. Whether it was research, treatment decks for different departments, directing B-Unit vehicle tracking and VFX plates, or briefing in actors when he was tied up elsewhere, my aim was to act as a reliable extension of Kim on a show that required him to be in multiple places at once.
